Charles competed at the top provincial level as a junior U10, U12 and U14 in South Africa. He played nationals for all these categories and was one of the top doubles players U14 in the country. Our Fundamental group class is for players with little or no previous tennis experience. At this level, we lay the foundation for students to be able to use the serve, forehand, backhand, and volley. Students will be taught the basic technical skills and fundamentals, including ball control, racquet control, grip, set-up, impact point and hitting zones. They will also be introduced to rallying skills and be able to play fun and interactive tennis games with their peers. The Fundamental group is designed to be a fun learning environment that will help students to develop a long-term love for the sport.
Our Intermediate group class is for players with previous tennis experience. At this level, we continue to reinforce the fundamentals and strokes learned at the Fundamental level. Students will be introduced to topspin, cross-court, and down-the-line rallies as well as more advanced technical and tactical aspects of tennis. Students will also play fun, interactive, and competitive tennis games with their peers.
Our Competitive group class is for players with a strong understanding of technical fundamentals and have an eagerness to compete. At this level, students practice and train for a tournament environment. This class will prepare players for the physical and mental demands of tournament play, as well as prepare players technically and tactically. It is highly recommended that students in this program start competing in Tennis BC tournaments. Students will also play fun, interactive, and competitive tennis games with their peers.
High Performance Group:
This group class is for under-12 and under-14 players, competing in provincial tournaments. Advanced skill development and tactics are stressed to maximize the physical and mental areas of tennis. It is strongly recommended that students in this class compete in at least 12 Tennis BC sanctioned tournaments, annually. All students wishing to enrol in this program must first receive approval by coach Charles du Toit.
